how we met

It all started in Florida ConLaw Greg's 3L year and my 2L. Greg conveniently sat right behind Yani and I. After a lunch date at a taco spot on campus and a first kiss at a bar, we quickly began formally dating and skipping our late Florida ConLaw class for dinners and outings. Don't worry, we both passed the class. Our first formal date was at a restaurant at Merrick Park that has since closed down, which is not a huge surprise as the food offerings were pretty all over the place (we ordered pizza and jalapeño sushi). We always laugh at how a nervous Greg asked a really in-depth law school related question the second I put a huge piece of lava hot jalapeño in my mouth that left me completely unable to respond. In the almost four years that followed, we have experienced a number of milestones together, from graduating and passing the bar, to moving into our first then second home, and we have traveled as often as we could, from our first trip to Marco Island and our first anniversary in New York to skiing in Sundance with Alex and Chris and exploring Nicaragua with Ali and Gus. We have loved every minute.

Greg pops the question

November 22, 2017. We traveled up to New Hampshire to spend time with family for the Thanksgiving holiday. At the airport, Greg was holding on to his carry on for dear life, which I thought was kind of strange but thought maybe that was how he usually carried it, and I just hadn't noticed. After spending the night with Tucker and Hillary in Boston, we began our drive to Hanover, NH. On the way, we had planned to go on a hike (unbeknownst to me, this is where Greg planned to propose), but, in true New England fashion, the weather was not cooperating. So, we instead drove to a small town in New Hampshire called Derry and had lunch at an old fashioned diner (Mary Ann's) where I ordered my two favorites: grilled cheese and hot chocolate. We then drove to Hanover where the clouds parted the moment we arrived. We went for a walk around Occum Pond, where we'd strolled and sled on past visits. Greg was very calm, and we were having normal conversation. Midway through the stroll, Greg put his phone down on a rock for a picture. As Greg never takes pictures, I knew then what was about to happen. Greg got down on one knee (in the mud) and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.
